I have excess/bulk garbage. Can the Public Works Department remove this?
The Public Works Department only services village owned property. For the removal of bulk items, please contact Star/A&J Disposal at (708) 748-8381. Please remember that garbage, waste, and/or debris cannot be placed into the street per village ordinances.
Why is the snow plowed back into my driveway after I've shoveled?
The streets must be plowed curb to curb in order to provide for proper access to storm drains and mailboxes, and to allow clearance for future snow removal. The plowing of some snow onto driveway entrances cannot be avoided. This can be limited if the resident shovels the snow from their driveway to the right side of the driveway, as you face the street.
What is the Will County Recycling Program?
Earlier in 2011, Governor Pat Quinn signed legislation that made extensive changes to the amended Illinois Products Recycling and Reuse Act in 2012. The amend legislation ban electronic items from landfills. As of January 1, 2012, Garbage Disposal Companies will no longer pick-up electronic items covered under the new legislation. Will County responded to legislation with a new program called Will County’s New Residential Electronic Recycling Program. This program offers 13 free of charge drop-offs locations, as well as a FREE front-door collection service for electronic items. The pick-up service is offered by Will County’s contractor, Vintage Tech Recyclers.
