What should I do if I am the victim of domestic violence?
If you are a victim dial 9-1-1 and make a police report.
Domestic violence is not confined to certain groups. Anyone can be a victim of domestic violence. Everyone argues or fights with their partner or spouse now and then. When that quarrel gets out of control and turns to physical violence or abuse it becomes a crime.
If you leave your spouse or partner, you may need some help, financial or otherwise. There are resources available. Counselors at any of the domestic violence programs or shelters can help you analyze your choices and work out a plan. In addition, Officer Aurena Davis of the Community Policing Division serves as a domestic violence advocate and can be contacted with domestic violence questions. Go to

Special Needs Registry
"No matter where you live, your community may experience a natural or man-made disaster-- a tornado, flood, winter storm, fire or nuclear power plant accident. In any type of disaster, individuals and families should prepare and know what to do. Community officials plan to protect and aid in the recovery of the community after a disaster. The special needs registry is a planning toll to assist officials to know where our citizens reside that may need a little bit more assistance during a disaster. Completing the registry does not mean that immediate assistance will be automatically sent to you in a disaster. But it is an important tool for officials to know what other assistance our community needs in a disaster."
We hope that you will support this program and help us get the word out. As the program continues to evolve we will continue to enhance and upgrade the registry. For those departments that have a program, we hope you can integrate this program with your existing program.
Should you have any questions or need any additional information, please do not hesitate to call Brenda Lutz or Jyane Ballun at 815-740-8351.
